Any donation is valuable to us. Inside the church there is more information or you can us on 01903 815850. We will call you back.
Thank you for helping us raise the money for the urgent repair of this special building.
What’s Going On Under the Scaffold?
As most will know we have been working hard to stop the roof leaking at St Peter’s. We started two years ago with the Tower and central valley gutter and moved on to the Chancel this year. We knew that several of the structural supporting timbers were rotten but once the Horsham stone roof was lifted the full story was revealed. One of crumbling wood, defective supports and structurally unsound stone work.
The funds we had raised and put aside along with the grant from the Listed Places of Worship Scheme (LPW) were inadequate to cover all the additional works and extended time required for the scaffolding.
We set about making other grant applications, applying for an increase in funding from LPW and releasing funds required for other repairs to the building, alongside an Archdeacon’s loan to cover the balance.
Some of our applications have been successful but it is necessary to put in place a loan to cover the shortfall. We will continue to make grant applications but we would welcome donations to help pay off the loan as soon as possible. We have many other essential repairs to save these beautiful buildings for future generations.
